Coagulation Coagulation is the process of chemical destabilization that converts dissolved chemicals in the water into fine, filterable suspended solids. APF® must be mixed into the water instantly and thoroughly to ensure the coagulation process reaches its full potential. If not mixed properly, coagulation will fail to occur, and the system will bypass straight to the flocculation stage instead.

Flocculation Flocculation is the process of aggregating fine suspended particles into larger flocs, allowing them to be filtered out much more easily by AFM®. APF® imparts a positive charge to the particles, enabling them to be efficiently trapped by the negatively charged AFM® filter media. The flocculation process takes several minutes, and the resulting flocs are loosely bonded, meaning this stage requires calm, undisturbed water flow.

How to Use APF® for Swimming Pools

• Use a dosing pump to inject APF® at a rate of 0.3–1.0 ml per 1 m³ (1,000 liters) of water flow.

How to Use APF® for Animal Life Support / Aquaculture Systems

• Use a dosing pump to inject APF® at a rate of 0.5–1.0 ml per 1 m³ (1,000 liters) of water flow.
